-- FYI FELLOW EAGLES: i LOOK at classmates.com for updates from classmates, but DAVID SMILDE is NOT class of '85, & NOT from bellflower ca . Either he's misleading others intentionally for some strange reason, OR an imposter is using his name & even a photo shown of him (not shown here). I know who Smilde is. He's from the class of '84 (one year older) , & he was also in my "semester in Spain" class (with Calvin COllege) . He's also a fairly frequent tweeter about Venezuela, and involved in higher education of some sort ..seems to have shifted towards the liberal perspective ..not sure if he calls himself Christian or not. So I just wanted to let people know about this. And why the imposter or Smilde himself would say "from Bellflower" is even more mysterious. FOr those who do NOT know, Bellflower is a small town in Los Angeles county where Dutch immigrants originally settled and Christian Reformed CHurches were founded and Valley Christian schools affiliated with the CRC were also founded (technically now in the border city of Cerritos) . If GRCH has a "sister school" in California, this would be it. Calvin College graduates periodically come to Bellflower & Valley Christian as new teachers. Some like it and  stay. Others return to where they came from . There was a CRC pastor named Gareth Kok who grew up in Wisconsin & attended Calvin College & Seminary and eventually arrived in BEllflower around the mid 1930's . HE is one of the founders of Valley Christian schools (now referred to as "Cerritos Valley CHristian" to distinguish it from the Valley CHristian in northern Cal ) . Gareth's son, Jim, also became a CRC pastor, and as a pastor started out in Iowa & Grand Rapids, and then in the mid 80's  moved his family to Bellflower CA ...some of the kids were already in college at that time. The two youngest were still in junior high and high school. The one in high school actually finished at GRCH, and is a member of the GRCH class of '85 . The youngest completed his education at Valley Christian, and then went to Calvin College. 

This is a LONG WAY of saying that it seems very strange that Dave Smilde or his imposter would randomly say he's from Bellflower CA . There seems to be something else going on. ONe of those wierd internet things. 

NO, DAVE SMILDE IS  NOT FROM BELLFLOWER !
